"Catholics Hate The Bible"

No, really. At least, that's what your average anti-Catholic blogger will say - on the basis of zero actual evidence but some distortions of history.

But do we really hate the Bible?

I suppose we show that we hate it by doing things like this: a public Bible-reading marathon at the start of a synod, intended to highlight the importance of Scripture.

Maybe the anti-Catholic just plain doesn't know what he's talking about.

I guess your line of work leaves you in tangible distance with lots of protestants, some too ignorant. I think you are a theologian or a theologian student. Well, I guess thats the heartache. You probably enjoy the virtue of knowledge and learning the treasure of truth, catholicism. But then at your stature, comes other acquaintances and people you meet who share their grouses and perceptions about us. How can they forget we adhere to "peter, you will be the rock on which I will build my church" and claim that we don't read the bible?

Hi Rickson,

You don't have to search very far on the Internet for Protestants who are both bigoted against and ignorant about the Catholic Church; that's not the sum of my experience with them, but it's the majority of it.

I fear your estimate of my "stature" is unwarranted, although I appreciate the compliment :-) If you'd care to see folks who actually know what they're talking about, see (in no particular order, and by no means all-inclusively):

Just Thomism
Syzygus
Sacramentum Vitae

Those just for starters. :-)

I'm no one of consequence, as my profile says. These gentlemen (among others) are The Big Boys. :-)

Peace,

RdP

He flatters me because I send him gifts.

Seriously, Rickson, I sincerely pray you will be Providentially protected from the escalating anti-Christian violence there, or that you will give a good testimony should misfortune befall you. You (and our Compassion International child) have been in our prayers much lately.
